Governance Foundation staff have carried out research, consultancy and training projects locally, nationally and internationally. The main themes running through this work are:

International projects have been carried out by members of the Foundation for clients such as the United Nations; national projects have been funded by government and by the national organisations representing local authorities and the voluntary sector; while the clients for regional and local projects have been regional agencies, local government and communities themselves.
